Amazing experience. Even better wine. The people are gracious, knowledgeable hosts! My favorite winery in the city!

I came here for a wine tasting yesterday and had such a bizarrely bad experience that I'm now laughing about it. My husband and I went into the tasting room and the worker told my husband that we must see the cellars first before doing a tasting. Although she said this in perfect English, I was convinced there was something lost in translation because I have never been told before that I must see the premises first before doing a tasting.Maybe we were in the wrong room? Given that we were new to the place, we happily obliged and walked around. Nope, nothing was lost in translation. She really did tell us to come back later. Maybe she wanted to take her time assisting the couple who was there before us? I honestly don't know. But what happened next was really where things got unprofessional. The employee wouldn't let my husband continue his tasting unless he would commit to buying a bottle first. We were speechless. They clearly advertise free wine tastings...yet not for us? I can only speculate why we were treated so poorly. Was it because we were Americans? Was it because we don't look like we can afford their wines? Who knows. Clearly the woman that we interacted with isn't the only one with terrible customer service skills. I recently posted about this experience on Trip Advisor (KathleenReviewsStuff) and the response I received from management was absurd. They called me a liar. Lol what do I have to gain about making something like that up? Instead of acknowledging the incident or apologizing to me, the manager went on this crazy rant about us. Truly tells you a lot about a company. Very glad that they got zero money from us!

Fantastic wines in a thousand year old winery. We stopped here for a tasting and had a wonderful experience with Adamo. He only spoke a small amount of English, but still delivered a great tasting. We ended up buying a few of the vin noble to bring back home with us as well as to enjoy during our trip.

Such wonderful people that work here. They have been making wine for 1009 years, which is crazy. Free wine tastings and the price for wine is fantastic. We had such a great time here and didn't want to leave. If you read Rick Steves Florence and Tuscany book he talks about this winery. Definitely worth a stop to see Adamo, he's been working at the winery for over 50 years!
